I am Anna Rowsell, founder of The Blue Loft. The Blue Loft is an online vintage
and antiques store built on a love of interiors with heart, contrast and
colour. After more than a decade owning and running an estate agency branch in Surrey, I stepped away from that world in 2024 aged 44 and returned to something that had been quietly calling me for years. I have always had a lifelong instinct for styling, for storytelling
through objects, and for helping people create homes that reflect who
they truly are.The idea for The Blue Loft began to take shape as I was exploring what came next. I started sourcing vintage pieces, attending auctions, and learning how to navigate the resale world. It was not just to build a business, but to re-engage with my creative
side. I launched The Blue Loft in October 2024 and began sharing the pieces I found and loved. The Blue Loft is a curation of vintage mirrors, antique and vintage art, colourful and characterful tableware,
vintage homeware, and unusual, quirky finds with timeless appeal. The Blue Loft is built around the idea of using vintage interiors and antique home decor in everyday life. Pieces should be both beautiful and
functional, with a sense of fun, individuality and charm. My professional life began in fashion. I studied fashion design at Kingston
University and interned with celebrated designers including Tracey Boyd, Matthew Williamson and Camilla Staerk. I also worked on Savile Row and with J Crew in New York, where I learned how to recognise quality,
embrace contrast and appreciate the power of styling. After graduating, I spent several years working in high-end fashion retail. It taught me the foundations of selling and customer service, and gave me a strong
sense of how people make decisions about what they buy. However, it was my years as an estate agent that truly deepened my understanding of homes. Not just as properties, but as emotional spaces.Day after day, I witnessed how layout, light, colour and thoughtful details could completely transform how people felt in a home. I advised clients on how to present rooms, position furniture, and make small changes with big impact. Often that was through nothing more than fabric, paint or
placement. That emotional connection to space stayed with me, and it is now at the heart of what I do.My goal is to make vintage interiors feel fresh, approachable and alive.
I often find I am the youngest person in the auction room and this fact fuels my mission. I want vintage and antique buying to feel exciting, welcoming and empowering for younger generations and anyone looking to
bring more character and colour into their home. You do not need insider knowledge or have grown up surrounded by antiques to feel comfortable shopping this way. All you need is curiosity, a bit of confidence, and
the joy of discovering pieces that bring your home to life.Anna x
