Collection: Quimper Pottery

Quimper is faience pottery from Brittany: hand painted earthenware with the soft creamy white glaze the town of Quimper is known for. Classic designs feature Breton figures, florals and scrolling borders, usually with a decorated rim around a central motif.

Look out for marks from Henriot Quimper and HB Quimper, along with the occasional shop or export mark. Being faience, gentle glaze wear and patina are normal and part of the appeal.

It styles beautifully on open shelves, mixed with plain white ironstone or cream ceramics so the painted motifs can do the work. I buy the pieces with strong colour and real charm, the ones you want to reach for rather than lock away. If it makes you smile when you open the cupboard, it belongs in your home.
