Pair of Silver Tone Candlesticks with Wide Round Bases

There is a lot to be said for a low, wide pair of candlesticks, and these silver toned ones have real presence for their size. Each has a squat urn shaped cup on a short knopped stem, sitting on a broad round base stepped with a fine moulded edge that gives them stability and a good weight in the hand. The finish is bright and mirror like, bouncing the candlelight around, and as a pair they bring the balance that makes a mantel or a table look considered.

At 10 x 12 cm they sit lower and wider than a tall candlestick, which makes them steady and hard to knock, ideal among glasses and dishes on a dinner table or clustered on a tray. They suit a windowsill, a shelf or either side of a mirror equally well. A matched pair is always more useful than a single, and two that have stayed together over the years are worth holding onto.

A good pair of candlesticks is the simplest way to bring a room the flattering glow of real candlelight.
