This antique Prattware lid has been mounted within a traditional circular frame to create a charming piece of decorative wall art. The ceramic lid features a pastoral nineteenth century scene, showing a standing figure with two children in a rural landscape. The colours are soft and mellowed with age, giving it the gentle warmth associated with early English pottery.

Typical of Prattware, the image is printed and hand finished in earthy tones of brown, ochre and soft rose. The scene sits securely within a deep black painted frame that complements the period character of the piece. The overall size feels easy to place, making it ideal for smaller spaces that need a touch of historical charm. It can be styled on a gallery wall, propped on a picture ledge, or placed on a bookshelf among vintage books and ceramics.

There is light wear consistent with age, including some age darkening and patina to the reverse, which is expected in framed lids of this period. The front remains clear and well preserved. This is a lovely example of Victorian decorative pottery repurposed as wall art.

A distinctive and characterful accent for lovers of English antiques, historical prints, and small scale decorative pieces.

Measures 15.5 x 3 cm.
