Modern British School Oil on Board of Stylised Flowers by a Gothic Arch

This modern British School oil on board is a wonderfully expressive floral painting, full of warmth, colour and character. A simple vase of stylised flowers sits beneath a gothic arch, giving the composition a lovely balance between softness and structure. The pink ground brings warmth and energy, while the black outlining and areas of mint, cream, ochre and terracotta create a playful but thoughtful palette.

Width: 46cm (18.1in)

There is something both naive and decorative about the piece, which makes it especially appealing for interiors that favour art with personality rather than formality. The arch gives the painting an almost devotional feel, while the flowers keep it light, uplifting and easy to live with. It is a work that can bring a wall to life without feeling too polished or predictable.

The pale frame suits the tones beautifully and keeps the whole piece feeling fresh. It would look lovely in a sitting room, hallway, bedroom or kitchen, whether hung on its own or layered into a gallery wall with other vintage and modern works. Pieces like this are so useful because they add colour, shape and mood in one go.

Measures 41 x 46 cm including frame. A characterful modern painting with the expressive surface and individuality that make original art so rewarding to live with.
