Vintage Woven Bread Basket in Soft Grey

This vintage woven bread basket is both practical and decorative, with a timeless appeal for everyday use and table styling. Measuring 39 cm by 19 cm by 7 cm, it is crafted from natural fibres in a soft grey tone that works beautifully in both rustic and contemporary interiors. The elongated oval shape and close, even weave give it a balanced, tidy look, while the gently raised rim frames whatever it holds.

There are light signs of age consistent with its vintage character, but the basket remains strong and fully usable. The weave shows the small natural irregularities that come with hand finished work, adding texture and personality. The soft grey colour makes it especially versatile, able to sit comfortably alongside neutral ceramics, wooden boards or colourful table linens.

Originally intended for serving bread at the table, it has countless uses in the home today. Line it with a napkin for rolls or pastries, fill it with fruit on a kitchen counter, or use it in a hallway for keys and everyday items. It also works beautifully as a styling piece, acting as a base for seasonal arrangements or adding gentle texture to open shelving.

Vintage woven pieces like this have a warmth and authenticity that newer mass produced baskets often lack. The natural fibres bring a sense of ease and informality, and the restrained colour keeps it feeling elegant rather than rustic.

Condition is good overall, with only the light surface wear expected from age. It remains sturdy, well shaped and ready for use.

This is a piece that makes the everyday a little nicer. Simple but full of character, it blends usefulness with understated decorative charm and will sit effortlessly within a collected and thoughtful home.
