Vintage French Ceramic Serving Plate by Faïencerie de Pornic

This charming vintage French ceramic serving plate was made by Faïencerie de Pornic, a pottery founded in 1947 in the coastal town of Pornic in western France. The decoration is strongly inspired by traditional Quimper pottery, with a colourful Breton couple shown in regional dress at the centre of the plate.

The plate has a lovely scalloped edge finished with a deep cobalt blue border, giving it a lively handmade feel. A fine yellow line frames the central design, while soft green painted foliage adds a fresh, folk art quality. The design is cheerful, decorative and full of character, making it a lovely piece for anyone who enjoys French country interiors, Breton ceramics or vintage tableware with a sense of place.

Measuring 23.5 cm wide and 3 cm high, it is a versatile size for serving small cakes, biscuits, fruit or cheese, although it would look just as appealing styled decoratively on open shelving, a dresser or a kitchen wall. It would sit beautifully with blue and white china, rustic French ceramics, woven baskets, linen napkins and coloured glassware.

The base is stamped Faïencerie de Pornic France. The plate is in good vintage condition with light age related wear, as expected from a pre loved ceramic piece. A lovely decorative French plate with colour, charm and a strong Breton influence.
