This antique Prattware pot lid has been mounted in a black painted wooden frame, creating a decorative piece of nineteenth century wall art. The lid shows a finely detailed narrative scene with expressive figures and soft Victorian colouring, typical of printed Prattware lids that were originally made to top ointment and cosmetic pots.
The framed piece measures approximately sixteen by three centimetres. The wooden frame has been repaired in the past and shows visible age related wear, including surface marks and rubbed paint, which sit naturally with its period character. The ceramic lid remains clear and well defined, with gentle toning consistent with age.
Its compact size makes it easy to style throughout the home. It works well leaned on a bookshelf, placed on a picture ledge with other small artworks, or hung as part of a gallery wall. These framed lids offer the charm of miniature prints with the tactile appeal of antique ceramics.
A characterful Victorian piece that adds interest and texture to any collection of small artworks or decorative antiques.
