Ridgways Coaching Days Ceramics

Collection: Ridgways Coaching Days Ceramics

A special little collection of Ridgways Coaching Days tableware, one of the most quintessentially English ceramic patterns ever produced. Made in Staffordshire from the early 20th century onwards, the Coaching Days (and Coaching Ways) design captures all the romance of 18th and 19th century England: stagecoaches pulling into country inns, coachmen and their horses on frost bitten roads, scenes that feel like something lifted straight out of a Dickens novel.

The sepia brown transferware on a warm cream ground, finished with a distinctive deep coloured border, has a particularly lovely quality at this time of year. It feels cosy and festive without ever tipping into kitsch, and styled on a dresser or a table it brings instant warmth and character to a room.

I've always had a soft spot for this pattern. It's the kind of tableware that makes everyday meals feel a bit more considered, and holiday meals feel properly special. Collected individually or built into a set over time, every piece has a story to tell.

Whether you're starting a collection, filling out one you've inherited, or just drawn to the warmth and nostalgia of proper English country ceramics, I hope you find something here to love.
