Antique Ridgways Stoneware Creamer Jugs Coaching Days and Coaching Ways Pair

A beautiful pair of Ridgways stoneware creamer jugs from the Coaching Days and Coaching Ways series, finished in a rich amber treacle glaze with detailed black transfer scenes and silver lustre trim. They have that wonderfully rounded, generous shape that looks instantly collected and comforting, and they style brilliantly on open shelves or set on the table for weekend breakfasts.

A lovely collector detail to know: Ridgways took these scenes from the 1888 book Coaching Days and Coaching Ways by W Outram Tristram, illustrated by Hugh Thomson and Herbert Railton, originally published by Macmillan and Co Ltd, and many pieces reference that permission wording on the base. 

This pair includes 2 sizes, which makes them especially useful and display friendly. The larger jug measures 10 cm high and 13 cm across to the handle. The smaller measures 8 cm high and 12 cm across to the handle. Use them for milk, cream, or sauces, or pop a few garden stems in each for a lovely shelf styling moment.

As antique stoneware, expect gentle age related signs of use, and some wear to the silver lustre in places, which suits the character and history of the pieces. Sold as a pair.
