A lovely matching set of 4 Ridgways stoneware tankard mugs in the Coaching Days and Coaching Ways series, finished in that rich amber treacle glaze with crisp black transfer scenes. They have real pub parlour charm and look brilliant on open kitchen shelves, in a glazed dresser, or set out for weekend coffee when you want something with a bit of story.

A detail collectors love is that Ridgways took these scenes from the 1888 book Coaching Days and Coaching Ways by W Outram Tristram, with illustrations by Hugh Thomson and Herbert Railton, published by Macmillan.

Each measures 10 cm high and 10 cm across. Sold as a set of 4. You will see the expected gentle signs of age and use that suit antique stoneware and help it feel authentic rather than new.
