Antique Ridgway Stoneware Large Beer Tankards Coaching Days and Coaching Ways Set of 4

A brilliant matching set of 4 large Ridgway stoneware beer tankards from the Coaching Days and Coaching Ways series, finished in a rich amber treacle glaze with detailed black transfer scenes. They have that proper old inn character and look fantastic grouped on open kitchen shelves, in a glazed dresser, or set out for cosy evenings when you want mugs with a bit of presence.

A lovely educational detail for collectors: Ridgway chose these scenes from the 1888 book Coaching Days and Coaching Ways by W Outram Tristram, using illustrations by Hugh Thomson and Herbert Railton, and the range was produced under permission from the publisher Macmillan and Co Ltd.

Each tankard measures 12 cm high and 13 cm across to the handle. Sold as a set of 4. As antique and early 20th century stoneware, expect gentle signs of age and use consistent with pieces made to be enjoyed.
