Antique Ridgways Stoneware Creamer Jug and Saucer

A gorgeous Ridgways stoneware creamer jug with matching saucer in the Coaching Days and Coaching Ways series, finished in a rich amber treacle glaze with detailed black transfer scenes. The rounded form and silver lustre trim give it a really handsome look, and it has that instantly recognisable old inn charm that works beautifully in both classic and modern kitchens.

A lovely collector detail to know: Ridgways based the scenes on the 1888 book Coaching Days and Coaching Ways by W Outram Tristram, illustrated by Hugh Thomson and Herbert Railton, and the series is often associated with permission wording linked to Macmillan and Co Ltd, the original publisher.

The jug measures 12 cm high and 16 cm across to the handle. The saucer measures 16.5 cm across. It is ideal for milk or cream at the table, and it also looks brilliant styled on open shelves beside cookbooks, brass, pewter, and blue and white ceramics.
