French Opale Glass Jar with Embossed Floral Design

A vintage French opale glass jar with a softly domed lid and delicate raised floral decoration. Made from milk glass with a gentle translucency, this piece has a luminous white tone that feels both calming and quietly refined. It likely dates from the mid twentieth century, when opale glassware was popular across Europe for bathroom and kitchen storage.

The jar is moulded with a relief design of lily-of-the-valley, stylised leaves and curling stems - a nod to Art Nouveau and the romanticism of early twentieth century French design. The glass has a smooth, almost silky surface, with a satisfying weight and a gentle sheen when it catches the light.

Originally designed for practical use, it now makes a beautiful decorative piece as well. Perfect in a bathroom for cotton wool or bath salts, or styled on a shelf with natural ceramics, soaps and marble. We also love the idea of using it in a guest bedroom with matches or wrapped sweets inside.

In very good vintage condition. A few small speckles and swirls are visible within the glass, typical of the manufacturing process and part of its handmade appeal.
